Here's why....

One of the comics waiting to get on stage piped in when he heard Matt and I discussing softball. His name was Geno, and was different than most comics I had met. I went to school with hundreds of actors/writer/comic wannabes and had become immune to drama students and the like who were always "on" in an attempt to win over a crowd. Geno was...hmmm....softly brazen. He was direct, he was outspoken...and I'll be damned if he didn't get me hotter than frog on a hot plate. (tm Troy McLaine from "The Apprentice.") He was the type of guy that men love to hang out with because he was the classic Wingman. And he could win over your Mom minutes after deflowering you in the back seat of his car. His charm was authentic, his confidence was apparent. Not arrogant, not obnoxious. Just...real.  Maybe it was the wavy hair, maybe it was the full lips that should come with a WARNING label. The guy exuded s-x appeal, but not in a Ron Jeremy kind of way. It was a quiet (yet bold) confidence. One that tips you off that he was a complete bad boy when the lights were off. And...did I mention the lips? If I could shrink him down and keep him in my bedside table's "goodie drawer" He could be my own personal Magic Wand.

Once his set started, he was in his element. He related to everyone in the audience. And he was funny. Not "Ray Romano-he's called a comedian therefore he must be funny" funny. His  wit was quick and his comebacks had a bite. He was completely at ease as both "talk show host" and comic. The guy's guy with the angel but devil attitude that women can't resist. His act was in a Leno-like format and was peppered with pop culture references, political commentary, sports analogies and tales of his 2 year old niece and infant nephew.

So...join me on Sunday, May 23rd for the show? 9:00pm. $10 admission/2 drink minimum. (Admission goes to Stand Up New York.) E-mail me if interested at tess@networkinggirl.com.

Cheers!

Christan aka Tess
